Electronics Technician - R&D Support
Our Science Technology Department contributes to the design, development, and construction of advanced detectors for diverse applications. The roots of this activity lie in the development of detectors for particle, astroparticle, and nuclear physics, and also support advanced detector development for molecular and materials sciences and nuclear medicine. In support of these activities, and in partnership with Queens University, and the Canadian Particle-Astrophysics Research Centre we are looking for a junior to mid-career level Electronics Technicians who will join the team for a 5 year term and:
- Maintain existing R&D test setups
- Provide electronics support with design and construction of future R&D test setups
- Contribute to the design of solutions for future experiments

- A diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology from a technical college or institute such as BCIT, or the equivalent in education and experience which may include Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electromechanical Technologies
- At least 3 years of relevant, practical work experience
Additional skills and knowledge requirements include:
- Familiarity with electronics instruments, measurement techniques and laboratory practices
- A general knowledge of basic electrical engineering technology and mechanical practices
- Ability to use computer aided design software (Solidworks is an asset) or PCB design/layout (ALTIUM)
- Knowledge of optics and light detection will be considered an asset
- Demonstrated sense of timeliness in completing tasks
- Proactive attitude and demonstrated initiative in work performance and output
- Attention to detail, good judgment and enthusiasm for tackling new problems every day
- An ability to build effective working relationships and to work and collegially in a team environment
- The ability to work legally in Canada for the duration of this term position
