This Division also has overall responsibility for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of components, systems and subsystems for the radioisotope production and processing facilities for tracers to be used in research projects both at TRIUMF and at other laboratories.

In support of our radioisotope production and processing program we are looking to recruit early to mid-career level Technicians who will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day synthesis of injectable radiopharmaceuticals for the TRIUMF-UBC PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging program. The Technicians will report directly to the TRIUMF PET Production Supervisor, and will frequently interact with Nuclear Medicine technologists at the PET suite at UBC Hospital. Specific duties will include:

  • Routine synthesizing of C-11 and F-18 labelled radiopharmaceuticals in a fast-paced environment
  • Following Health Canada approved protocols and standard operating procedures to produce positron emitting radiopharmaceuticals (PERs) under cGMP guidelines
  • Preparing all documentation for each batch and carry out QC testing using various analytical chemistry techniques and equipment
  • Maintaining records and all supplies, precursors, chemicals and reagents used in the process
  • Maintaining general laboratory organization such as storage, housekeeping, and lab cleanliness
