Competition # 330

Postdoc - Experimental Nuclear Physics

Located on the South Campus of the University of British Columbia, TRIUMF is Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics. There is a worldwide renaissance in nuclear science, driven by new and unexpected experimental results from improved experimental techniques, theoretical breakthroughs, and expanded applications. On the experimental side, two major milestones have advanced the research: large arrays of detectors with extraordinary data-collecting power, and accelerator facilities which provide experimental access to intense mass-selected (isotope-selected) beams with lifetimes down to the microsecond scale.

In support of our expanding Nuclear Physics program, we are currently recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow who will collaborate on experiments in nuclear astrophysics and nuclear structure physics using the Isotope Separator and Accelerator ISAC radioactive ion beam facility at TRIUMF. The successful applicant will also be expected to assume a variety of responsibilities associated with the construction, installation, and commissioning of the new recoil mass spectrometer EMMA.

Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in either experimental nuclear physics or nuclear chemistry, and will have obtained this degree during or after 2007. Individuals who are expecting to complete a PhD in 2012 are also encouraged to apply.

When submitting applications as outlined below, please also include a statement of research accomplishments and interests, and a list of publications.

TRIUMF is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Your complete application package should be submitted by email to recruiting@triumf.ca and will include the following in one complete PDF file:

Applications will be accepted until 2012-07-10
