at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). TRIUMF was instrumental in
building the ATLAS hadronic endcap calorimeter, and hosts an ATLAS Tier-1 data centre
employing a large local team of Grid computing experts.
The TRIUMF group is currently active in searches for new Exotic and SUSY particles as well as
Standard Model measurements. We have a strong involvement in data quality as well as R&D for the
high-luminosity forward calorimeter upgrade, including beam tests at the TRIUMF 500-MeV
cyclotron.
The core analysis group includes four TRIUMF research scientists (Dr.'s A. Canepa, O. Stelzer-
Chilton, R. Tafirout and I. Trigger), who closely collaborate with other HEP groups in Vancouver
and in Victoria.
If you have recently earned a doctorate in experimental particle physics and have a strong
background in data analysis, this may be an excellent research opportunity for you. The two
successful candidates will be expected to take leading roles in data analysis and to participate in data
quality or calorimeter-related activities. One position will be based at CERN (Geneva) and the other
at TRIUMF. For the CERN-based position we envision a prominent role in the ATLAS Online
Global Monitoring effort. The TRIUMF-based position is expected to help support the local (Tier-3)
computing. The anticipated start date for these positions is on or before July 1st, 2011. Salary will be
competitive and will depend on experience.
TRIUMF is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
