Junior Programmer/Analyst

Documentation and Database Development 

Overview:

The Information Systems & Technology team requires support for the documentation of various systems and integrations and the development of databases and reporting tools to allow easy access to system configuration and process mappings.

Duties:

The student will be involved in working with IS&T team members to identify gaps in the documentation of systems and processes and to recommend and/or develop solutions to address those gaps. This will require the use of modern data management tools and software which may include Sharepoint, One Drive, SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Java programs or other tools. The student may be assigned software development tasks using Java or PHP.

Skills learned during this work experience:

The student will gain an appreciation of how a complex Information Technology environment is constructed and maintained and will become familiar with documentation and data management tools, both off-the-shelf and custom built. The student will also be exposed to cyber security threat detection and analysis.

Qualifications:

The student should have experience with modern development platforms such as Java J2EE, CSharp, Javascript, Jquery, PHP, and/or Python. Experience in documentation of processes or applications would be beneficial. Knowledge of cyber security issues would be beneficial. The student should be highly motivated and able to work independently on assigned projects.

Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and ranges from $ 2080 to $ 2800 per month plus 4% vacation pay.
TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
