Position Title:muSR Data Analysis Software Developer | ||
Name of Project:muSR Data Analysis Software Development | ||
Overview:muSR is an experimental technique that uses implanted positive muons to probe the microscopic properties of materials and chemical systems (http://musr.ca/). The co-op position will be focused on developing and improving existing software for the analysis of high transverse field muon spin rotation and avoided level crossing muon spin resonance spectra. | ||
Duties:- Develop existing software for the analysis of muSR spectra and port onto the Root software package (https://root.cern.ch/)- Document muSR analysis software - Participate in running muSR experiments | ||
Skills learned during this work experience:- Data analysis methodology- Working in an international experiment/environment | ||
Qualifications:- Programming skills in C/C++/Python- Team worker - No high-level science knowledge required | ||

Period of work:May - Aug 2020 with possible 4-month extension | ||
Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and
ranges from $ 2080 to $ 2800 per month plus 4% vacation pay. TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
