Position Title:Cryomodule engineering student | ||
Name of Project:Design of the CERN Cryomodule Assembly Fixtures | ||
Overview:TRIUMF is commissioned to build five crab cavity cryomodules for the High Luminosity upgrade project at CERN. In preparation for the assembly several jigs and fixtures will have to be designed and fabricated. | ||
Duties:The student will work under close supervision of the SRF senior designer and technical staff with input from a TRIUMF mechanical engineer to support the design of the fixtures with the aim of completing final design and fabrication drawings for release to the machine shop. In addition the student may assist in the assembly of a cryomodule that TRIUMF is building for VECC in Kolkata to gain first hand experience in cryomodule design. | ||
Skills learned during this work experience:The Student will gain knowledge on RF, superconductivity, and cryogenics, master CAD and FEA tools to conduct mechanical simulations, and gain hands-on experience on mechanical engineering, and vacuum technology. The training would strengthen student’s capability for his/her future career in mechanical engineering. | ||

Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and
ranges from $ 2080 to $ 2800 per month plus 4% vacation pay. TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
