Position Title:Mechanical Designer
Name of Project:ARIEL II Design Support
Overview:Project related technical support associated with the design and development of experimental equipment, instrumentation, and systems associated with engineering technology. Work is of a complex nature, requiring the use of standard and non-standard technical procedures
Duties:Providing detail design services in support of the experimental projects and facilities at TRIUMF. Will prepare preliminary layouts and shop drawings for new projects or changes to existing equipment.
Skills learned during this work experience:Mechanical design, drafting standards, documentation that supports mechanical engineering process.
Qualifications:The incumbent should be currently enrolled in a program with a mechanical engineering discipline. Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling software, revision control using product data management, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and materials and processes will be considered an asset.
Period of work:May - Aug 2018 with possible 4-month extension

Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and ranges from $ 1810 to $ 2710 per month plus 4% vacation pay. TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
