Position Title:Assistant to the Beam Lines Group
Name of Project:Mechanical assistance to Beamlines Group technologists.
Overview:TRIUMF/ISAC is a sub-atomic particle and nuclear research facility. The Beam Lines Group is responsible for the installation and maintenance of mechanical devices in the particle beam transport systems. The successful candidate will assist the Beam lines Group technologists with assembly, alignment and installation tasks, In addition the student will be asked to prepare documentation related to the work undertaken.
Duties:1. Assist with the installation of Equipment support stands
2. Assist with the installation and alignment of beam line devices.
3. Document installation and maintenance procedures.
Skills learned during this work experience:Field experience with mechanical installation tools and techniques including precision alignment tools.
General large-lab experience with support services such as design office and machine shop etc.
Design and use of database.
Qualifications:Second year mechanical engineering or technology student.
Mechanical aptitude, experience with machine tools
Knowledgeable about machine shop practices.
Experience with computer word processing and database applications.
Nuclear energy worker
Period of work:4 with possible 4-month extension

Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and ranges from $ 1810 to $ 2710 per month plus 4% vacation pay. TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
