Position Title:

RF Coupler for RISP

Name of Project:

RF Coupler for RISP

Overview:

Superconducting Accelerating Cavity for RISP project (Korea) should operate at frequency 325MHz and RF power up to 10kW in CW. Almost all the power to be applyed to the accelerating beam. To deliver the RF power to the cavity the RF Coupler to be designed and developed. The main requirement for the coupler is to minimize insertion RF and heat transfer from outside of the cryomodule to the cavity (at operational temperature of 2K). The coupler development consists of conceptual, RF and mechanical design. It's quite serious project inviolved a lot of study, simulation and design work.

Duties:

Mechanical and RF design of the RF Coupler.
RF simulations and measurements.
Help for maintenance and repair for RF systems and cryomodiules of TRIUMF accelerators during Winter Shutdown.

Skills learned during this work experience:

The work is covering quite wide area of engineering competency. Training and experience for vacuum and RF technology: assembling, tests, measurements. Experience for tuning, maintenance and operation of RF systems and cryomodules for linear accelerators. RF simulations with Comsol, Ansys and HFSS. Participation in publication for particle accelerator conference.

Qualifications:

Student after 3 university terms for Eng-Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Experience with mechanical and electronic assembly and Solidworks experience. Basic knowledge of RF Engeneering and RF Measurements.

Shiftwork required:

No
