Position Title:Mechanical Designer | ||
Name of Project:M9T2 / ARIEL II | ||
Overview:Project related technical support associated with the design and development of experimental equipment, instrumentation, and systems associated with engineering technology. Work is of a complex nature, requiring the use of standard and non-standard technical procedures. | ||
Duties:Providing detail design services in support of the experimental projects and facilities at TRIUMF. Will prepare preliminary layouts and shop drawings for new projects or changes to existing equipment. | ||
Skills learned during this work experience:Mechanical design, drafting standards, documentation that supports mechanical engineering process. | ||
Qualifications:The incumbent should be currently enrolled in a program with a mechanical engineering discipline. Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling software, revision control using product data management, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and materials and processes will be considered an asset. | ||

Period of work:Sep - Dec 2017 with possible 4-month extension | ||
Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and
ranges from $ 2080 to $ 2800 per month plus 4% vacation pay. TRIUMF pays round-trip airfare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students); for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
