Position Title:Superconducting Acceleration Cavity Development for TRIUMF eLinac project | ||

Overview:TRIUMF eLINAC (superconducting accelerator for electrons) project requires development of new 9 cell elliptical ILC/TESLA cavity at frequency 1.3GHz capable to provide 10MV acceleration voltage for 10mA beam current. TRIUMF is doing R&D for the cavity design, fabrication and tests. | ||
Duties:Participating in cavity rf tuning and superconducting rf tests. Assistance for superconducting cavities test preparation including chemical etching, high pressure rinsing, assembling. RF measurements. Computer simulations. | ||
Skills learned during this work experience:Mechanical assembly. Vacuum, chemical etching, cryogenics technology. RF and SRF measurements. Computer simulations. Labview programming for rf measurements. | ||
Qualifications:Student after 3 university terms for Electrical Engineering/Mechanical/Physics engineering. It will require some experience with mechanical and electronics assembly and Solidworks experience. | ||

| Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience,
and ranges from $ 1810 to $ 2710 per month plus 4% vacation pay.
TRIUMF pays return air fare (this does not apply to Vancouver/Victoria students);
for Vancouver Island students, TRIUMF will pay ferry costs.
